The placenta is an organ that develops during pregnancy to provide nutrients and oxygen to the growing fetus. The placenta also removes waste products from the fetus. The placenta attaches to the wall of the uterus and is connected to the fetus by the umbilical cord.
Placental function begins when implantation occurs and reaches its peak during the third trimester of pregnancy. Placental function declines after birth and the placenta is then expelled from the body.
Pregnancy can be divided into three trimesters, each about three months long. The first trimester is from fertilization (conception) until week 12, the second trimester is from week 13 until week 26, and the third trimester is from week 27 until delivery.

How to Use Placentex Safely and Effectively
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should not use Placentex. This medication can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Placentex should not be used in children younger than 18 years old.
Do not take more or less of this medication than is prescribed by your doctor. Do not take it more often, or for a longer period of time, than directed.
To ensure that you get a correct dose, measure the liquid form of Placentex with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not with a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.
The Placentex suppository must be inserted into the rectum (back passage). To insert the suppository:
•Remove the aluminium seal from the end of the applicator.
•Moisten the tip of the suppository with water to make it easier to insert.
•Lie on your left side and raise your right knee to your chest. Gently insert the applicator into your rectum, pointing it toward your navel (belly button).
•Squeeze the plunger until all of the medicine has been injected and then carefully remove the applicator from your rectum.
